Tomoko Mizu was born in Tokyo, but completed his degree in Industrial Design in Milan, at the Domus Academy, under the supervision of architect Anna Castelli Ferrieri.
In 1994, he settled definitively in Italy, choosing to open his studio in Milan, while residing in Crema.
Ever since, he has worked on product design and offered strategic consulting related to company identity. He has focused on design and product communication in the furniture and food industries.
His work method is based upon careful observation of human gestures, infused with research on materials and their use.
His designs transmit a sense of relaxation, poetry, naturalness, both in terms of aesthetics and from a functional point of view. Among the objects designed by Tomoko Mizu is the Acrilic Vase series, that can be found both in the Cappellini catalogue as well as in the permanent collection of the M.A.G.M.A. Museum of Roccamonfina (CE).
In recent years, he has worked frequently with Italian artisans on projects tied to the Design world. He participated in the Biennale dell’Artigianato Sardo in 2009, and received the “Compasso d’Oro” award in 2011.
His works have been displayed in numerous exhibitions and featured in international publications and websites.
