paradiset sofa
Design Kerstin Horlin Holmquist,
1958
Designed by Kerstin H. Holmquist in 1958 for Nordiska Kompaniet, NK, the Paradiset Sofa boosts an elegant and organic shape - a strong feature of Swedish modern design. While the soft line of the back, which smoothly run over into the armrests, gives a classic appeal, the tapered and curved legs bring a whimsical twist to the 2,5- seater sofa design.
The Paradiset Sofa is part of the Paradiset Collection, where all names are inspired by "Paradiset" - the Swedish name for Eden or Paradise.

Kerstin Horlin. Holmquist (1925-1997) was a Swedish modernist architect and designer. She is remembered today, for her ability to create designs for the modern home in the 1950's without worrying about short lived trends and what other people thought - to stay true to her own unique and humanistic design vision. She often worked with her husband Erik Holmquist, and together they modelled and created the pieces together. A key aspect for the couple was always to test out their designs in their own home before completing a project.
