domo desktop screen baffle
Design Stefan Borselius,
2014
Abstracta's Domo series has a concise and classic look and many intelligent details. Its unique bevel edge creates a unique dynamic expression: the bevel captures light, creating shadows and clear connections between the two screens. The desktop screen consists of sound-absorbing fillers mounted in solid wood frames. Both sides of the screen are decorated with cloth. There are two types of screens, square or rounded. Desktop accessories are made of polished aluminium.

As clearly demonstrated by his furniture creations, Stefan Borselius is a designer who takes no shortcuts. Going about things thoroughly is something he learned from his grandfather and great-grandfather, both cabinetmakers. His path to becoming a furniture designer thus began with learning this craft properly at Steneby in Dals Långed. He then continued his studies in Stockholm at the Carl Malmsten Furniture School and later completed a master’s degree in furniture design at the Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design.
In the long run, it pays to be thorough – as Borselius, renowned for his great attention to detail, is today amongst Scandinavia’s leading furniture designers. His design range is also impressive. Included in his portfolio are chairs, sofas, lamps, carpeting and room dividers – created for some of the most prestigious furniture companies in Scandinavia.
To break the rules, you first have to master them – if, that is, you want the results to be elegant. In pursuing his curiosity-driven exploration of new ideas, Borselius relies on his mastery of cabinetmaking. The same applies to his use of new materials, found in many of his works, not least the groundbreaking products he has designed for Abstracta.
