"Hepburn is glamorous and light, lifted from the floor on elegant solid wood legs, with an optional cross detail on the cushions.
The company was launched in September 2007 and very soon after, made it's first Licence agreement for manufacturing and distribution of the products with De La Espada. The pieces shown here are the first of a growing number of high-quality products which will be made in relatively small quantities, using hand-skills based manufacturing.
Matthew Hilton graduated with a degree in Furniture Design from Kingston Polytechnic in 1979. He went on to design products for a variety of well known manufacturers. In 1985 Matthew set up the Matthew Hilton Design Studio. He has also been given the highest honor in the field of Industrial Design in the United Kingdom, by being named a Royal Designer for Industry in 2003. In September 2007, Matthew established his own brand, Matthew Hilton Limited as a place he could have complete creative control. In 2008, he was named Designer of the Year by Elle Decoration at the British Design Awards.
The legs are available in american black walnut and american white oak finished with a danish oil or a white oil and a range of fabrics. The cushions are available with or without the cross detail shown. Three rectangular cushions soften the backrest of the fixed 3-seater. Additional cushions may be purchased separately.

Matthew Hilton (b. 1957) attended Portsmouth College of Art and then graduated from Kingston Polytechnic with a degree in Furniture Design. After graduation, he was an industrial designer and model maker until 1984. In 1985, he set up the Matthew Hilton Design Studio. In 1991, he designed the "Balzac Armchair" for SCP Limited, a company started by Sheridan Coakley in 1984 and now based in Shoreditch, London. Hilton was Habitat's top designer, and his furniture is held in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Geffrye Museum, London, and the Manchester City Art Gallery. He was elected a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) in 2005, which is considered the highest honor in the field of Industrial Design in the United Kingdom. In 2007 Matthew launched his company Matthew Hilton Limited.

From Porto and Madrid, and educated in London, the founder opened the first De La spada store in London in 1996.
