The Stingray was designed by Thomas Pedersen in 2002 as a modern interpretation of the classic rocking chair. The generous shape of the shell offers a variety of sitting positions. Pedersen is often inspired by organic shapes found in nature, and found the flowing shape of the stingray fish the perfect muse for the shape and name, Stingray. The story behind Stingray begins In 2002, when Thomas Pedersen was completing his final project to qualify as an architect. He selected a rather untraditional item – a rocking chair in fibreglass and steel. Although the Aarhus School of Architecture has an extremely well-equipped timber workshop, his choice of materials posed problems as it has no facilities for his chosen materials.

Thomas Pedersen founded Spark Studio, which primarily works with furniture-design and other design-areas related to the architectural space, such as product design interior-design and exhibitions. Through our wide architectural background, and our good experiences from earlier co-operations with manufacturers, we are able to meet the demands that our customers have towards a serious and professional partner. Furthermore we have understanding of production technical challenges since we are also producers ourselves. Our solutions arise not only from own ideas, but also in close dialogue with the client, securing that we together reach a better and more determined result. We work for leading Danish and international furniture brands and design interiors and architectural building-projects for companies as well as private clients.

Founded in 1911, the Danish furniture brand FREDERICIA is a family-run furniture company. They innovated the original classical furniture design style, a new unique Nordic style design concept in FREDERICIA. They are designed and proud of respecting independent thinking and providing high quality product standards.
FREDERICIA's furniture has a strong design connotation, and has a product personality that is not afraid to be defined as mediocrity. The product meets today's demand criteria and is not limited to a particular design policy. We believe that too many framed bars are an obstacle to design. FREDERICIA pursues the design, aesthetics and practicality of the products, and combines the traditional craftsmanship with modern industrial production techniques, and is committed to inheriting and continuing the spirit and dream of “making everyone in the world affordable for high-quality furniture”.
FREDERICIA unites Scandinavia and many internationally renowned designers such as Børge Mogensen, Cecilie Manz, Alfredo Häberli, Hans J. Wegner, Space Copenhagen and GamFratesi. Together they created these impressively beautiful furniture products.
In the FREDERICIA flagship store in Copenhagen, you will find many amazing design products, and the design and display atmosphere here is definitely worthy of you. FREDERICIA's showroom is very modern and the products are beautifully displayed. These enduring classics, such as chairs, tables, sofas, etc., in contrast to the interior design with dark floors and white walls, show that FREDERICIA's products go beyond time-limited features.
Recently, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the iconic Spanish chair, Fredericia introduced a special edition made of solid oak and elegant olive green saddle leather to commemorate Børge Mogensen, one of Denmark's four major design masters. BørgeMogensen was designed in 1958 and made a Spanish chair by Fredericia.
