tod side table
Design Todd Bracher,
2005
Glass fiber reinforced plastic
Designed as a 'beauty mark' for a room which brings physical and visual support to a space. The table's organic quality acts as a visual transition from floor to surface which contrasts the usual rectangular forms of the sofas and beds it sits beside. The table is designed understanding it may never exist alone, but instead always next to something else. The reach of the surface over a sofa or bed allows greater flexibility in the home. A small piece with a strong personality. like a beauty mark.
American born designer Todd Bracher sums up his own style as 'respectful, patient and understated'. Ideas either come to him haphazardly or after a period of analysis and experimentation. Nothing, it seems is forced. The most important element of his designs is the 'respectful dialog with the user' producing products that embody his provocative theories and, most importantly, are certainly easy on the eye.

Todd Bracher is a native New Yorker who is a Designer and Educator currently based in New York City. When he was 27 years old, Bracher wanted to play for the New York Yankees. Only problem, Todd doesn't play baseball. He designs furniture, and in his world, the Yankees are an Italian furniture company called Zanotta. He is the principle and founder of Todd Bracher Studio and while he's "back home" in NY, Todd spent ten years working in Copenhagen, Milan, Paris and London. His works have been curated by some of the most prestigious brands around the world from furniture design and table top, to interiors and architecture. Todd's work has been included in major exhibitions around the world and has been pinned as “America’s next Great Designer’ by the NY Daily news among several nominations for Designer of the year in 2008 and 2009. His experience ranges from working independently, heading Tom Dixon’s design studio, acting as Professor of Design at L’ESAD in Reims France, to co-founding of the experimental collaboration ‘to22’, to most recently his appointment as Creative Director of the luxury brand Georg Jensen.
Established in 1954, Zanotta is one of the recognized leaders in Italian industrial design. Guided by the insight and wonderful entrepreneurship abilities of the founder, Aureilio Zanotta, beginning in the 1960s it won and has held the international spotlight. This was thanks to its products: emblematic for both their formal and technological innovations.
