This is a gorgeous example of the lounge chair manufactured by Getama of Denmark circa 1960’s. An all solid oak frame cradles a removable wool seat and backrest. All original springs under the seat and in the cushions is strong and sturdy. Done in both a fabulous soft green and one in cream, these are nothing short of comfortable and stylish. Each is signed and in wonderful vintage condition. A nice patina and warm glow of the oak frame makes these ones to be admired

Hans J?rgensen Wegner’s (1914 - 2007) high-quality and thoughtful work contributed to the international popularity of mid-century Danish design. His style is often described as Organic Functionality, a modernist school with emphasis on functionality, arising primarily in Scandinavian countries. In his lifetime, he designed over 500 different chairs, over 100 of which were put into mass production, with many recognizable icons among them. Born to cobbler Peter M. Wegner, he worked as a child apprentice to Master cabinetmaker H. F. Stahlberg. With an affinity for wood, he attended the Danish School of Arts and Crafts and the Architectural Academy in Copenhagen. In 1936, he began studies at what is now The Danish Design School, with O. M?lgaard Nielsen as teacher.

ErikJørgensen Møbelfabrik, the spiritual synonym for Danish furniture design, was founded in 1954 in Svendborg, Denmark, and was founded by saddle manufacturer and interior decorator Erik Jørgensen. When Erik died in 1998, his two sons, Niels and Ole, took over the company. At ErikJørgensen Møbelfabrik, our goal is to produce lasting furniture. Not only can you beautify the surrounding environment, but you can also open your eyes and see new ways of making furniture. ErikJørgensen Møbelfabrik is full of enthusiasm for furniture design and craftsmanship.
The quality of the great crafts since 1954 is of the utmost importance. After two generations of efforts, ErikJørgensen Møbelfabrik has created a series of furniture that focuses on craftsmanship, natural materials and minimalist design. Several classic collections have become the cornerstone of Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik, such as Hans J. Wegner's iconic cow chair, Cora of Poul M. Volther and Erik Jørgensen's own masterpiece EJ 220 sofa.
The milestone in the history of ERIKJØRGENSEN is the OX cow chair - designed by HANS J. WEGNER in 1960. Hans J. Wegner contacted Erik Jørgensen in 1988. It turns out that the cow chair is particularly difficult to decorate. However, Erik is very optimistic and knows to use his expertise to make improvements. In the second year, the cow chair was launched at the International Furniture Fair in Milan and immediately became a design idol. Erik Jørgensen saw something unique in the beautiful shape and detail of the Corona chair. The design is light, but at the same time it has a sculptural depth that impresses people. Not surprisingly, the Corona chair is Erik Jørgensen's furniture, most often found in movies and TV shows, including the 1971 thriller Carnal Knowledge, starring Jack Nicholson, popular TV shows, Mad Men, and the Danish show The check kill.
Erik Jørgensen is a talented furniture designer. The EJ 220/270 has witnessed his talent for designing a sofa, which is both comfortable and comfortable. With its low box, narrow armrests and a relaxed look, the EJ 220 sets the style of a modern and minimalist sofa.
