Nature with its astonishing perfect geometry has always been the primary source of inspiration for most forms of creative projects. QUARTZ is a system that couples two-dimensional pentagonal and hexagonal wooden structures, which develop in three dimensions following natural crystalloid formations. The geometric volumes are covered with ecological fabrics in mixed colour variations producing an end result that resembles more a wild microhabitat than an armchair.

The famous Italian design company CTRLZAK is located in Milan, Italy, and is a well-known furniture, home and ceramic design company. The founders of the company, Katia Meneghini and Thanos Zakopoulos, are both artists and designers. CTRLZAK loves to mix and match mixed-race styles, inspired by their travels and experience and rich cultural backgrounds around the world, designed in Italian and Greek styles. Designers create art, objects, space, and most importantly, the bond between humanities. Each product has a variety of stories, with different forms and endings.
Recently CTRLZAK and Davide Barzaghi teamed up to design a geometric wind armchair Quartz. Many of the ideas are inspired by the combination of nature and geometry, and Quartz is a typical example. Its overall structure consists of a pentagon and hexagonal two-position structure, like the structure of a diamond, naturally transitioning to a three-dimensional structure. Each pentagon and hexagonal component is covered with a sleek, eco-friendly fabric, so this geometrical armchair has a natural look.
Influenced by ancient scientific equipment, the art and design studio CTRLZAK designed a table lamp called “kryptal” for the brand JCP universe. This equipment from the Alchemy Lab has been redesigned and combined with traditional cathode tubes to illuminate our daily lives in a modern way.
CTRLZAK's work has been widely exhibited in galleries around the world. Their works have been selected by museums and institutions such as MOMA, the Louvre and the Venice Art Biennale. The creative design and inspirational innovations make CTRLZAK a great delivery.
